About Vincent Luecke
Vincent is the son of Mary and the late John Luecke and is the oldest of five siblings, all Spencer County residents. He is the owner of St. Benedict’s Brew Works craft brewery in Ferdinand and River City Brew Works in Rockport. He retired in 2019 as editor of the Spencer County Journal-Democrat and the Perry County News following a 25-year career in community journalism. He teaches occasional adjunct classes at Oakland City University.
Educational Background
Vincent is a 1985 graduate of Heritage Hills High School and holds Bachelor and Master degrees from Saint Meinrad School of Theology.
Community Involvement
Vincent is an active member of our community. He is a member of St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church and a former board member of the Brewers Guild of Indiana. Vincent served several years on the Spencer County Regional Chamber of Commerce, including as board chairman. He just completed a term on the board of Spencer County Farm Bureau. He also was a member of the founding board of Leadership Spencer County.
Key Issues
As a candidate for Spencer County Commissioner, Vincent sees a number of important issues:
- Working to improve the quality of life for Spencer County residents;
- Diversifying employment opportunities;
- Leveraging existing tourism within the county to aid smaller businesses; and
- Promoting the growth of small businesses and helping entrepreneurs.
Goals and Objectives if Elected
Vincent has identified a number of goals and objectives if elected to serve as your District 3 County Commissioner. He will ensure transparency in county government. He would like to see commissioner and council meetings live-streamed so our citizens can know what issues their elected leaders are addressing. No major issue should be introduced and voted on in the same meeting. No surprise agenda items. Vincent believes in the abilities of our county employees and pledges to avoid micromanaging county offices and departments. He is a listener and will hear all sides of an issue.
