John Hurley – State Representative Dist. 75

About John Hurley

John is a lifelong resident of Spencer County and is a career and technical educator at South Spencer High School. He lives outside of Richland with his wife Jessica. John is the son of Bill Hurley and Kaddy (Burroughs) Hurley of rural Richland.

Education and Professional Associations

John has a B.S. in Agriculture Education and a B.S. in Chemistry from Western Kentucky University. He has Teaching Certifications in Agriculture Education, Technology Education, Government and Political Science, Social Studies, and Middle School Mathematics. John is also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Indiana Farm Bureau. He is also a National Rifle Association Lifetime Endowment Member and a member of Indiana Ducks Unlimited.

Community Involvement

John is involved in the community and has worked with Lincolnland Economic Development Corporation and the Spencer County Chamber of Commerce to facilitate job fairs for students. He developed a robotics program with high school and middle school students and has facilitated industry tours for students.

Key Issues

As a candidate for the State House of Representatives, John sees a number of key issues that he would like to address in the legislature including supporting public education, protecting working class Hoosiers, and defending Constitutional Rights.

Goals and Objectives if Elected

If elected, John will work hard to adequately support and fund rural schools, reinstate the common construction wage, and be a vocal advocate for the residents of Southwestern Indiana. John will also continue to push for rural access to broadband internet.
