Dan Wilkinson for Prosecuting Attorney
Dan Wilkinson, 50, lives near Chrisney with his wife of 21 years, Emilie. His family includes parents, Curran and Linda Wilkinson, as well as sister, Erin Vaal, and her adult children, Cody VanWinkle and Lauren Vaal. A nearly lifelong resident of Spencer County, Dan is a 1990 graduate of Heritage
Hills High School. He also graduated from Indiana University in 1994, and Indiana
University School of Law in 1999. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.
Dan is a lifelong member and pianist at Midway United Methodist Church and also serves as part-time pianist at Zion United Church of Christ in Chrisney. Dan has served as past executive director for Lincoln Amphitheatre, serves as president of the Friends of Lincoln State Park, and has been involved in numerous community organizations through the years including the Spencer County Community Band, Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association and many others.
Dan has practiced law for 23 years, 16 of those years as a prosecutor. He currently works as a deputy prosecutor in the Perry County Prosecutor’s Office. He has also served in the past as Prosecuting Attorney
and Chief Deputy Prosecutor in Spencer County, as well as Chief Deputy Prosecutor in Crawford
County. He has also been appointed and served as a special prosecutor for cases in Spencer,
Perry, Dubois, Warrick and Vanderburgh Counties. Dan was also a partner in the former law
firm of Robinson, Wilkinson & Pulley in Rockport from 2011-2014.
As Prosecutor, Dan was a member of the Spencer County Domestic Violence Task Force, Spencer County’s Multi-Disciplinary Team for child abuse investigations, the board of directors of the Southwest Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition (SWICACC) where he continues to serve. He was also a member of the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, and served as past president of the Spencer County Community Corrections Board.
Dan has considerable jury trial experience and has aggressively fought and prosecuted crime including homicides (and death penalty), drug dealing and manufacturing, child molestation, child pornography and domestic violence cases. Dan has also stood strong against corruption and worked to promote high professional standards in law enforcement. If elected Prosecuting Attorney, Dan will focus on aggressively prosecuting crime and holding offenders accountable for their actions. He will appear in court and have a hands on approach to managing cases and the Prosecutor’s Office to achieve meaningful results for a reasonable cost to the taxpayers.
